Description

Birch leaf samples collected in 1974 and 1975 in the fertilisation experiment E38 Stormossen. A key to the samples is available for download. 1974: Birch leaf samples no. 13774-13839. 1975: Birch leaf samples no. 14315-14380.

Background information

E38 Stormossen was an experiment involving the application of different phosphorus fertilisers (Thomas phosphate, apatite slag, and triple superphosphate) to pine seedlings on peatland. The experiment consisted of 90 frames (3 m × 3 m) with 60-cm-high walls dug into the ground. Within each frame, 64 two-year-old pine seedlings were planted in September 1967. In the main experiment (frames 1–66), each frame served as a treatment unit, replicated three times. In addition to phosphorus, the other nutrients were supplied via nutrient solution during the growing season.

Events

  • Analysis 1975: The analysis values of the leaf samples collected in 1975 (as percentage of dry weight) for N, P, K, Ca, Mg and Mn, are stored in the archive at the Svartberget Field Research Station in Vindeln in the form of paper copies.
  • Analysis 1974: The analysis values of the leaf samples collected in 1974 (as percentage of dry weight) for N, P, K, Ca, Mg and Mn, are stored in the archive at the Svartberget Field Research Station in Vindeln in the form of paper copies.
  • Miscellaneous 2004: These samples were first stored at The Department of Forest Production Ecology, SLU Uppsala. In 2004 the samples were sent to SilvaBoreal-Archive for longtime storage.
