Description

Remains of ground spruce needle samples taken at five occasions (T1, T2, T4, T5, T6) in the nutrient optimisation experiment 1477 Flakaliden in year 1998. T stands for occasion/tillfälle in Swedish. The ground samples consist of needles from branch whorl 7, age class C+1-needles. Ground needles (T1, T2, T4, T5, T6) = sample no. Fla 1581-1586, Fla 1631-1682. A key list of sample numbers is available for download. The sampling also included C-needles and C+2-needles which were saved but not analysed. Note: In 1998, there were major rust infestation on the spruces at Flakaliden.

Background information

The serial branch sampling at Flakaliden were reduced to only include needle sampling. The branches were no longer processed as they were at the beginning of the series sampling. The sampling includes three treatments: control (C), solid fertilisation (F) and irrigation with liquid fertiliser (IL). Needle samples were also taken on plots with treatments F-P and F-Mg in October 1998 (T5). Ten trees per treatment were sampled, a total of 30 trees at each occasion. T6 was a supplementary sampling for investigating potential differences between different plots within the treatments C and IL (20 trees/treatment). Sampling dates: T1: 1998-05-28 sample no. 1581-1583 (pooled samples per treatment) T2: 1998-06-26 sample no. 1584-1586 (pooled samples per treatment) T4: 1998-10-05 sample no. 1631-1636 (pooled samples per treatment) T5: 1998-10-06 sample no. 1637-1640 (pooled samples per plot, treatment F-P and F-Mg) T6: 1998-10-07 sample no. 1641-1682 (individual trees, treatment C and IL)
