Description

Remains of ground spruce needle samples taken at four occasions (T1-T4) in the nutrient optimisation experiment 1477 Flakaliden in year 2001. T stands for occasion/tillfälle in Swedish. The samples consist of needles from branch whorl 7, age classes C-, C+1- and C+2-needles. Ground needles (T1-T4) = sample no. Fla 2047-2090. A key list of sample numbers is available for download.

Background information

The serial branch sampling at Flakaliden were reduced to only include needle sampling. The branches were no longer processed as they were at the beginning of the series sampling. The sampling includes three treatments: control (C), solid fertilisation (F) and irrigation with liquid fertiliser (IL). Needle samples were also taken on plots with treatments F-P and F-Mg in October 2001 (T4). Ten trees per treatment were sampled, a total of 30 trees at occasion T1-T3 and a total of 20 trees at occasion T4. Sampling dates: T1: 2001-05-31 sample no. 2047-2052 (pooled samples per treatment and age class) T2: 2001-06-28 sample no. 2053-2061 (pooled samples per treatment and age class)) T3: 2001-10-10 sample no. 2062-2070 (pooled samples per treatment and age class)) T4: 2001-10-11 sample no. 2071-2090 (individual trees, treatment F-P and F-Mg)

Associated trials

Events

  • Analysis 2001: Nutrient analysis and Carbohydrate analysis
  • Miscellaneous 2022: Needle sample (T3) no. 2065 (C), 2066 (F), 2067 (IL) are stored in a special batch series that includes C+1 needle samples from 1987 to 2020.
  • Miscellaneous 2004: These samples were first stored at The Department of Forest Production Ecology, SLU Uppsala. In 2004 the samples were sent to SilvaBoreal-Archive for longtime storage.
