Description

Dried fractions from a biomass sampling in the nutrient optimisation experiment 1477 Flakaliden in 2003/2004. Fractions are needles, branch axles, dead branches, bark and wood from four treatments: Control (C), Irrigation with liquid fertiliser (IL), Solid fertiliser (F) and Ash (A). Residues of analyzed ground samples returned from Lund University are also stored. Tree number 1-4, 13-16, 25-32 - Irrigation with liquid fertiliser (IL-plots). Tree number 5-12, 17-24 - Solid fertiliser (F-plots). Tree number 33-48 - Control (C-plots). Tree number 49-64 - Ash (A-plots).

Background information

In December 2003, during thinning of the Flakaliden Experimental Site, a destructive sampling was carried out in three treatments (C, IL, F). Forty-eight trees (16 trees/treatment) were sampled. Samples trees were chosen in driving paths or close to drivning paths. Sample trees were divided in three classes: ruling, co-ruling and suppressed. Tree crowns were divided into seven stratums. One sample branch were taken from each stratum. Six stem disks were taken on each sample tree at stem base, breast height, 30%, 55%, 70% and 85% of the stem. The following year in December 2004 an Ash treatment (A) was sampled in the same way.

Events Analysis 2007: Cake pieces were removed from stem disks for analysis on treatments C, F and IL.
Analysis 2008-01: Seven stratum was reduced to four stratum for needles and branch axles for analysis on treatment C, F and IL. Stratum I= stratum 1+2, Stratum II= stratum 3, Stratum III= stratum 4, Stratum IV= stratum 5-7.
