Description

Dried fractions from a biomass sampling in October 1993 in the nutrient optimisation experiment E79 Asa. The different fractions were merged per treatment. Wood from stem disks were divided, one half was intended for analysis, the other half for storage. Stored fractions are: • spruce needles • branch axles • dead branches • wood from stem disks • bark from stem disks • lichens • flowers • wood, bark and needle lots for DM vs length, area. Stored in glass vials.

Background information

In October 1993 a destructive sampling was carried out in experiment E79 Asa to describe tree and stand structure in five treatments (C, I, IL, F, A) . Fifty-four trees were sampled, twelve trees in C-, I-, IL-, and F-treatments and six trees in Ash treatment. Sampling in the ash treatment was carried out for researcher Helene Lundkvist. Sample trees were divided in four height classes: A-D, in ascending order. Tree crowns were divided into seven stratums. Two sample branches (A and B) were taken from each stratum. Five stem disks were taken at stem base, breast height, 55%, 70% and 85% of the stem. B-branches were processed by Vindeln Experimental Forests. Sample tree 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 31, 41, 42, 58, 59, 60 - Control (C). Sample tree 16, 17, 18, 25, 26, 27, 43, 44, 45, 55, 56, 57 - Irrigation with water (I). Sample tree 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 34 - Irrigation with liquid fertiliser (IL). Sample tree 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51 - Solid fertiliser (F) . Sample tree 19, 20, 21, 52, 53, 54 - Ash (A).
