Description

Dried fractions from the first biomass sampling in the nutrient optimisation experiment 1477 Flakaliden. The sampling was extensive, whole trees were collected. Fractions are: • needles • branch axles • stem disks • stem parts • stem needles • roots There are ground and unground samples from certain branch whorls.

Background information

In October 1986, a destructive sampling, combined with a structural inventory, was carried out, to describe tree and stand structure and nutrient pool sizes before the treatments were started. Thirty-two trees, in six groups distributed over the range of height in the entire stand, were sampled in such a way that plots in all treatments were represented. The six height classes are: A-F, in ascending order. Stems were divided into annual growth sections. Data from the biomass sampling are stored in Safe deposit ID 88.
