Description

Unground spruce needle samples taken 2018-11-01 in the nutrient optimisation experiment 1477 Flakaliden. The samples are pooled samples consisting of C+1-needles from five trees on each parcel. Needle samples were taken from the upper third of the tree crown, with the intention of sampling the seventh branch whorl. In 2018, new sample trees were selected in three diameter classes. Two trees with average diameter, two trees with diameter +1.5 SD and one tree with diameter -1.5 SD were selected on each plot. A key list of sample numbers is available for download. Needle samples taken in 2018 have not been analysed.

Background information

Starting from 2013, needle samples were taken from the plots that constituted the basic experiment, i.e., the unthinned plots. The sampling includes four treatments: control (C), solid fertilisation (F), irrigation with liquid fertiliser (IL ) and previously irrigated parcels (I) that started to be irrigated with liquid fertiliser in 2007 (new IL). In total 13 parcels were sampled. Note: Last years rust infection on the needles was evident during the collection of the C+1 shoots in 2018.
