Dried fractions from a biomass sampling in October 1998 in the nutrient optimisation experiment E79 Asa. Stored fractions are: • spruce needles • living branch axles • dead branches • wood from stem disks • bark from stem disks • unground general samples of needles, living branch axles, bark

Background information

In October 1998 a destructive sampling was carried out in experiment E79 Asa. Twenty-seven spruce trees were sampled, seven trees in the C-treatment, seven trees in the I-treatment, five trees in the F-treatment and eight trees in the IL treatment. Sample trees were chosen from four height classes: -1.5 std, mean, +1 std, + 2.5 std. Tree crowns were divided into seven stratums. One sample branches were taken from each stratum. Five stem discs were taken at stem base, breast height, 30%, 70% and 85% of the stem. Sample tree 1, 2, 3, 12, 15, 16, 25 - Control (C). Sample tree 4, 8, 9, 10, 17, 18, 23 - Irrigation with water (I). Sample tree 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 26 - Irrigation with liquid fertiliser (IL). Sample tree 5, 6, 7, 11, 27 - Solid fertiliser (F) . These samples were first stored at The Department of Forest Production Ecology, SLU Uppsala. In 2004 the samples were sent to SilvaBoreal-Archive for longtime storage.
