Description

Remains of ground and unground spruce needles and shoot axles taken at seven occasions (T1-T7) in the nutrient optimisation experiment 1477 Flakaliden in year 1990. T stands for occasion/tillfälle in Swedish. Three additional branch samplings were also conducted 1990, two in June and one in July. The samples consist of needles and branch axles from branch whorl 4. Ground samples are pooled per treatment and age class. Ground needles (T1-T7) = sample no. Fla 688-747. Ground needles extra samplings = sample no. Fla 871-987. Ground shoot axles (T1-T7) = sample no. Fla 898-939. A key list of samples numbers is available for download.

Background information

The sampling includes three treatments: control (C), solid fertilisation (F) and irrigation with liquid fertiliser (IL). Ten trees per treatment were sampled in occasion T1-T7, a total of 30 trees at each occasion. Whole spruce branches were sampled. Branches were processed at Jädraås Experimental Forest, where they were separated in age classes for both needles and branch axles, dried at 85° in 48 h and weighed separately for each age class. Sampling dates: T1: 1990-05-03 T2: 1990-06-01 T3: 1990-06-11 T4: 1990-06-27 T5: 1990-08-06 T6: 1990-08-29 T7: 1990-10-04 Extra sampling:1990-06-07 (week 23) - 3 trees/treatment Extra sampling: 1990-06-20 (week 25) - 10 trees/treatment) Extra sampling: 1990-07-18 (week 29) - 10 trees/treatment
